Work space components
Standard toolbar: Allows you to perform many common
tasks. In addition to standard editing functions like open, save,
copy and paste, you can perform other functions such as resizing your
image or canvas and applying filters to your images.
Document window: This window shows the file you're
editing and features a zoom button at the bottom to adjust the view.
The preview tab at the top of the window is also helpful to see effects
such as mouseovers and button effects without having to do a "Preview
in Browser".
Property Inspector: As with Dreamweaver's property
inspector, the Fireworks property inspector allows you to control
the appearance of text and images. It also presents different options
for text and images. This panel includes several features in Fireworks
that are different from those in the Dreamweaver version. For more
info, check out our tutorial on using
the property inspector.
Panel groups: The panel you'll use most often is
the Layers panel. It allows you to show and hide various layers, duplicate
layers, and delete layers. The optimize panel will be useful when
exporting your images for use in Dreamweaver.
Tools panel: This panel contains the main editing
tools you'll use on a regular basis including selection, bitmap, vector,
and Web tools. For more details, see our tools
panel tutorial!
